personality and other notes

ooohh where to begin with Her. first of all big cult and religion warning shes themed around bad religious practices and i really love her for that either way. i'll talk about her story after i yap about her personality. she's very serious, doesn't really get jokes and 100% locked into her goal most of the time. she speaks very poshly which kind of contrasts with her appearence (being very disshevelled and covered in oil 24/7) but this is a kind of recent development. shes always spoken like dirk strider w/ full grammar and syntax but this year i decided to pivot to her being more serious and well to be blunt based on mitsuru kirijo from p3 (you see the similarities the moment you see her in story lol, theyre both very naive but strong-willed in their own rights and in the right enviroment can thrive or fall). not to mention her parents are both incredibly important gods. you know how in homestuck earth c theres like some aus where people see the gods in homestuck? yeah thats canon here they're idolized, praised, some have churches/shrines etc etc its crazy.

her mother is the witch of heart and an engineer, so shes seen as like the workers class's god and is all about building your own success with your own two hands while also being cautious of the feelings of others essentially. whole sections dedicated to praising her etc etc. her father on the other hand is fucking despised lol hes like a trickster god? hes the knight of hope if i recall and he just fucked over alot of the players in their session/nearly killed them/sided with the big bad so she kind of gets shit even though it isnt her fault. Mostly because she looks alot like him (very human-like aside from purpleblood features and horns). her mother is the troll btw if that wasnt obvious hes the human my bad. im kinda just yapping at this point but anyways this heavily affects how she interacts with the world and how she percieves everybody around her. shes very iffy on talking to people if they arent also like 'demi-gods' for lack of a better term (they dont get any god-tier powers LMAO) she just has a classism issue and has been restricted her entire life.

her main hobbies include engineering like her mom though its more based in aviation? she wants to be a pilot but really likes tinkering with the machines anyways.. she very much picked it up from her mom or what little she remembers of her because when her mom was locked in as a mother she did really try to teach the like 4 year old mechanics and got fed up and angry that she couldnt 100% comphrehend it. mother of the year btw. for her father she doesn't mind petty crimes/fucking with people but she tries to actively avoid it. despite that she really looks up to him as like a source of inspiration and 'power' since hes very very powerful.

anyways onto i guess story shit now that you know about her. her mother n father birthed her from a kismesistude and so yeah rocky start. lots of arguing when she was growing up, she stayed with them until she was like 4-5 and they realized 'we are terrible parents' and gave her up to a nearby orphanage. her mother barely visits. shes really busy with her engineering, hates being percieved and feels extreme guilt so they dont talk, but her father visits like every month lmao gives her gifts so shes a daddys girl essentially she loves him. hes a terrible father though she continually asks 'when am i getting out of here' and he just runs off and returns with more gifts so she doesnt question him. (she has given up on returning home but appreciates the visits and relies on them for her mental state) so her room at the orphanage is super extravagant and people pick on her alot because yeah shes a rich nerd with powerful parents even if they hate her.

this is where her actual story begins lmao i know im rambling. essentially she begins to yuri it up with another orphan who i forgot the name of and need to redesign entirely but shes a side character. she dies almost immediately when the story starts and kickstarts her spiral into depression bc my ocs cant ever be happy... anyways shes out one day visiting her dad or something comes back and her yuri girlfriend is dead! she goes to her room, cries and her friends begin to dm her 'hey we playing The Game' because. essentially SOME characters are aware theyre gonna play sburb some have even prepared their entire lives for it, shes kind of one of these people whos aware its gonna happen so she just kind of pushes back her feelings and then oop her moirail dies bc of the game. and then her dad bc of the meteors and she enters the session with like everybody she knows having fucking DIED. i forgot to mention her moirail but his name is rodney and hes also another demi god hes way too sweet for her but also i love them together they balance each other out. i miss my mai and rodney man. anyways

most of this from this point onwards is more my speculation/ kind of confirmed canon? the roleplay she was in kind of died off for personal reasons after this point so its mostly just become a 'yeah this PROBABLY' happened because i had 90% of it planned out and sadge we need to redo it one day. but anyways she gets contacted by this cult leader guy called the shepard /sheppie for short. Sheppie's main goal is to just manipulate mai and get her to be his follower. cause right now as mai's entering the game shes a muse of mind and she's basically the most powerful with the most vulnerable emotional state while trying to bottle it up and remain some kind of 'leader' to the rest of the sessionmates including rodney's gf and rodney's sister so shes trying not to let her own emotions break through even though shes lost more than anyone LOL. he contacts her through pesterchum/trollian and begins manipulating her essentially turning her into a maid of mind and eating up her muse powers for himself. but i like to imagine what a fully realized muse of mind mai could have done tbh... im sure she does too LOL

he does eventually win her over 100% and she becomes his follower, betrays her session and yea. my idea is that sheppie with no physical form in the session takes over her body using mind powers and sends her soul to the dream bubbles where she forever wanders eventually meeting naty and making that lil rp me and amy my bffsie did kind of canon? i enjoy the concept of her going through something similar to what her father did (since her father was heavily based off of persona 3, it makes sense for her to be the same in some aspects and thats what that rp is based about her finding the truth about her father aka him not being such a great guy and just in general finding out what shes fighting for and who she is).

mai is a very very complex character. you can't say she's evil because even though she plays that role at the end of the day, she's not. she shares alot of similarities with rena but at the end of the way one is redeemable (mai) and the other isnt (rena).. i hope one day i can write a happy ending for her. i think she deserves it after everything she's been through also i like naty x mai alot so dreambubble yuri is real!
